Easy-Open Oyster Development

Updated: Jun 21, 2018

The Australian Oyster Industry has an exciting opportunity, with the announcement for the Expression of Interest for the commercialisation of the Easy-Open Oyster technology.

Please read the full announcement by Dr Len Stephens, Managing Director of the Australian Seafood CRC below.

Expression of Interest

Please find below preliminary information about an innovative new method for preparing live oysters for retail sale and food service.

The Seafood CRC Company Ltd is owned by Australia’s seafood industry (www.seafoodcrc.com). One of the company’s research projects developed a prototype machine which processes oysters to make them easier to shuck while maintaining them alive until served.  The invention is the subject of an international patent application.

While the prototype machine has established the proof of concept, further development work is needed to bring the machine to a commercial standard. Scott Technology Ltd has been selected as the best company to do this work. More details are provided in the enclosed in formation.

The Seafood CRC is looking for an investor willing to pay $400,000 for the required development of the machine, in return for which the investor will obtain rights to future commercialisation.

We shall also be contacting a range of potential investors in Australia. More detailed information and a video of the prototype can be obtained by first signing and returning a nondisclosure agreement, please contact myself directly to request a copy.

It is anticipated that a short list of potential investors will be established over the coming weeks, after which further discussions will only occur with those companies.

If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity, please contact me directly.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Len Stephens Managing Director len.stephens@seafoodcrc.com
